The Monhegan, designed by Maria Egger and Heath Paley, is a handcrafted wind chime made up of an acrylic frame and 34 pieces of glass. The technique used to frost and then polish the frame and the glass is a proprietary 48 hour process developed by Goose Rocks Designs and gives the acrylic and glass a unique luster that complements the chime's clean contemporary design. The Monhegan may be hung outdoors as the glass is durable under normal weather conditions. However if extreme weather with high winds is expected, the chime should be moved to a protected area. The line used to string the Monhegan is made from woven polyethylene and is designed to withstand years of UV exposure. The Monhegan is shipped in a corrugated box packed in water-soluble biodegradable material made from vegetable starch. A brass cup hook is provided as an aid in hanging the chime. Glass pieces for the Monhegan are available from Goose Rocks Designs should a replacement be required.
